A new kid from holland

This weekend a friend of mine came over from Zeeland to ride a small BMX contest here. After the contest he decided to come over for a bit to chill and listen to some music.
He gave me a name of a guy he recently met hanging in a skatepark: Devnik.
Devnik is a young guy (Same age as my little sister, who I still call "the baby") from Holland who is starting to make the rough kind of Dubstep I really like. Check out this guy's myspace and I managed to find one of my Devnik favourite's to share with you: Devnik - Falling Heads

Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

The bad side of crate digging/Who sings this song?

Every once in a while you hear a nice hiphop song and you just start wondering what artist the sample is coming from. It's usually a lot of work to find that out, so I decided to find the originals of some of my favourite songs and to share them with you. Now you're finally able to sing the complete song and not just the part you heard in the sample!

Kryptic Minds

Back again, after a long time of nothing. Well, posting nothing. With Queens day fresh in the back of my head (at least, the parts I can remember) I decided to post some Dubstep tunes for y'all.
I wasn't always in to Dubstep that much, but then Gabrielle just kept playing it over and over again whenever she visited me. And, boys and girls, she visits this house a lot. (Who could blame her for visiting the coolest house in The Dam so often :-P. Feel free to come check it out whenever) On song just kinda stuck with her the whole time: Kryptic Minds - Six Degrees. This is such a chill and relaxing Dubstep tune I just had to share it with y'all. And why share the song, if you can share the album!

Stay Positive

This guy is a fighter! When he started making this album it took him longer then he could ever expext, overcomming a lot of personal problems and even cancer.
Elemental Zazen's parents were international school teachers so he used to move to a lot of difrent countries as a kid. That's where he found out all what's wrong with the world, but he is still hoping he can change te world and believing in world peace. And as he tells the people who listen to his music: "If you don't like the music, I still send positive karma your way", you can see that this is one possitive dude!
This Album has some real nice productions of DJ Kno(of one of my all time favourite groups: Cunninlynguists), Joe Beats (from Sage Francis cool side project: Non Prophets) and Maker (one of the hardest working and most underrated hiphop producers in the scene)

One for the B-Boys

When I was younger, I reallly was in to the whole B-Boying thing. Not only as the part of hiphop and the role it played in making the hiphop culture as big as it is nowadays, but as the danceform too. I was watching movies on the internet and even trying it myself. The dancing isn't something I do anymore, though I still enjoy watching it. And listening to the music, of course!

Now for something a bit harder!

After a complaint (Syo!) about the previous album being to soft, I decided to upload something a bit harder. Here it is.

Ammunition Recordings is a young drum'n'bass label from America signing mostly the more darkstep type of artists. This is an Ammunition Label album with various of those nice "dark drum'n'bass" artists.

Ammunition Recordings - The Uprising EP (Z-Share)

Something not quite so hiphop

12 - Strength
13 - Sunday Bloody Sunday (Music By, Lyrics By - U2)
14 - Live For Better Days

12 and some more

My dad always taught me that when different music genres collide, it gets more interesting. For exaple: he used to be really in to folk-rock. The conventional folk was a bit boring to him, but add a little rock to the mix and you immediately get something vivid. This works mostely for every kind of music. (look at bands like urban dance squad and rage against the machine who mix rock and rap together)

On the album I'm posting today you have American-based group Themselves, an expirimental hiphop and electro group, colliding with the Germany-based group The Notwist, an indie-rock and electro group. Both allready making music that can't be defined into one genre. The outcome is an expirimental indie-hiphop sounding album unlike any other music, though matching some sound with other Anticon (the label Themselves is on) groups. An explenation on where the name comes from can be found here on wiki.

13 & God - 13 & God (Z-Share)

Lessons Learned

Yesterday I posted one of my favourite Input albums only to remember that the guy promised to release a free album today. The album, which he produced together with Dope Fiction, is just something to keep us buisy as he's currently working with Satyr on a new album entitled "This Old House", that is releasing early this year too. This album has some songs from his previous release "unreleased & unrelating" on it, but mostly new tracks.
You can download it for free on Input's "Famele$$ Entertainment" blog or by clicking on the link below.

The youngster with the grown-up lyrics

Grieves is a young guy from Chicago based in Boorklyn that makes some nice emo rap. When he begun rapping he used to do it all himself. He wrote the rhymes, made the beats, produced and was his own mannager. Nowadays he's signed with Rhymesayers, witch is one of the best hiphop labels if you ask me.
The 88 keys & counting album is his first collaboration with local Seattle-based producer Budo. He helped Grieves make a complete sample free album, wich created a nice and one of a kind sound.
Just listen for yourself.

Promote your friends!

Who am I not to promote my friends and people I know?
I met the dutch rapper Engel a few years ago on Splash Hiphop Festival when I was there together with my friends Bint, Just (called Krieper back than) an Bathmuts, who formed "De Kroegdichters" back then. Hangin out I found out he was a rapper who even had a few albums out. I should have known better, but back then I wasn't realy big on Dutch Hiphop (Nederhop) except for de kroegdichters (what wasn't realy fair, their being my friends and all). Finaly Back in the Netherlands I descided to download some of his stuff and I really got in to his music.
Engel is one of the guys in the Netherlands who keeps it orriginal and is not ready to sell out to any mayor record label, scared they will change his sound and make it more into the crappy populair Hiphop that's going big nowadays. You kinda got to give the guy some respect, he doesn't go for the big bucks while struggeling for rent (don't we all). This Album follows the "geen weg terug" album and is the second free album he produced scince he started doing Hiphop. It has a nice oldskool sound to it and has some nice collaborations on it with different arists like Just (die van de Kroegdichters), Per.Verz and Master Surreal.
Download it from Statemagazine or click the link below: It's Free!!

Here I am!

Dear friends and other people,
Here I am. Right now it's via tether on my I-phone. My home internet broke down, and this was the best possible way to share my thoughts and music though it's a bit hard to upload something new now.
Luckily I allready had some music uploaded on megaupload for you to listen to. While most of what I will upload will be more Hiphop en Drum and Bass orientated, I had a semi-classical album of Douwe Eisenga online.

Douwe Eisenga is a Dutch composer who studied at the Conservatory in Groningen and now lives in Zeeland where he teaches piano at the Zeeuwse Muziekschool (Music School of Zeeland). He discribes his music as "Mesmerizing music for the open mind. Time and again he creates a modern, irresistible groove with classical instruments. The resulting music is an intriguing mix of minimal and maximal, Colorful and sparkling with every new listening."

I hope You enjoy it!
